meadowbrook golf course
Minneapolis, Minnesota
In June of 2014, torrential rains flooded Meadowbrook Golf Courses leaving over 55 acres of dead turf and trees, damaged cart paths and bunkers and submerged irrigation system. In response, the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board retained Herfort Norby to preform a flood damage assessment and concept drawings for the restoration of the golf courses.
The damage at Meadowbrook Golf Course was extensive so, as a result, the course remained closed for nearly 4 years. In July of 2015, after numerous public meetings and the exploration of multiple options for restoration, Herfort Norby finalized plans for the renovation of Meadowbrook Golf Course. The project was jointly funded by the Minneapolis Park Board, and the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). Construction began at Meadowbrook in August of 2015 and the course reopened for play in August of 2017.
Herfort Norby was responsible for the preparation of multiple concepts, cost estimates and the subsequent preparation of detailed plans and specifications as well as oversight of the bid process and construction observation.
